Bunkhouse Beacon - Buried and Raised -- The Symbol That Changes Everything

Romans 6:3-4 NKJV – Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Baptism is not merely a tradition. It is a living picture of the gospel itself.

Going beneath the water symbolizes death and burial, the old life surrendered.

Rising from the water symbolizes resurrection, the new life begun.

Romans 6:4 teaches that this newness is not merely symbolic; it is meant to be lived out daily.

2 Corinthians 5:17 declares that in Christ, old things have genuinely passed away and all things have become new.

You are not simply a reformed version of who you once were. You are a new creation entirely. That is not a small thing. That is everything.

Reflection Question: In what area of your life are you still living as the old creation rather than walking in the newness Christ has given you?

Practical Application: Identify one old habit, mindset, or pattern that no longer belongs to who you are in Christ, and take one concrete step today to replace it with something that reflects your new life.

Waiting for Him with you,

Lars
