Called out of Darkness
Bunkhouse Beacon - Called Out of Darkness
1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJV But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
You have been called out of darkness into marvelous light, not just to be saved FROM something, but FOR something.
Your purpose is to proclaim the praises of Him who rescued you.
You are the light of the world, a city on a hill that cannot be hidden.
This means your life should illuminate the darkness around you through good works that point others to your Father in heaven.
Being the church isn't about sitting in a building on Sunday; it's about shining Christ's light Monday through Saturday in your neighborhood, workplace, and community.
How is your light shining today? Are people seeing Christ in you, or are you hiding your candle under a basket of comfort and preference?
Grace and Peace
