The Danger of the Hidden Room.
Bunkhouse Beacon - The Danger of the Hidden Room
Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
David's prayer in Psalm 139 is one of the most courageous prayers in all of Scripture. He is not asking God to confirm that everything is fine.
He is asking God to look into the places that might not be fine. As the Bible study powerfully stated, whatever we withhold from God will eventually begin competing with God.
Every believer has a room they are tempted to keep locked. It might be a relationship, an ambition, a habit, or a fear. God does not force his way in. But when we lock that door, we are functionally saying that we know better than the one who created us. Invite him in today.
Reflection: Is there a room in your life that you have been keeping closed to God?
Practical Application: Pray Psalm 139:23-24 slowly and sincerely, word by word. Then sit quietly for several minutes and listen for what the Holy Spirit may be revealing to you.
In Christ,
Lars
