Bunkhouse Beacon - Faith Comes First

Mark 16:16 NKJV - He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation is not earned through ritual or religious performance. It is received through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes clear that grace, not ceremony, is the foundation of our standing before God.

Baptism matters deeply, but it does not produce salvation -- it responds to it.

The thief on the cross beside Jesus had no opportunity for baptism, yet Jesus promised him paradise that very day.

What secured his eternity was belief. Today, examine the foundation of your own faith. Is it resting on what you have done, or on what Christ has done for you?

Reflection Question: Have you placed your trust fully in Christ alone, or are you still trying to earn what He has already freely given?

Practical Application: Write down one religious habit or personal effort you have been unconsciously relying on for standing before God and surrender it to Him in prayer today.

Waiting for Him with you,

Lars
