We were created to Worship
Bunkhouse Beacon - Created for Worship
Isaiah 43:21 NKJV - This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.
Romans 1:24-25 NKJV - Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
John 4:23-24 NKJV But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Every person alive carries within them an unshakeable drive to worship. This is not accidental. God formed us specifically to declare his praise.
The danger is not that you will stop worshiping; it is that sin quietly redirects that worship toward lesser things: power, fame, beauty, wealth, or the approval of others.
Paul warns that humanity has exchanged worship of the Creator for fascination with the created.
Examine your own heart honestly today. What captures your deepest admiration and attention? What you consistently fix your gaze upon reveals what you truly worship. Return your gaze to the one who made you for himself.
Audit Your Worship Take fifteen minutes this week to sit quietly and honestly ask yourself what is receiving the most consistent attention, energy, and emotional investment in your life right now. Write it down. Bring it before God in prayer and ask him to reorient your heart toward him.
Reflection Question: What created things have been quietly receiving the worship that belongs to God alone?
Practical Application: Before reaching for your phone or beginning your daily routine, pause and deliberately offer God the first moments of your day in prayer and praise.
In His Grace,
Lars
