Being rooted in Jesus Christ
Bunkhouse Beacon – Being rooted in Jesus Christ
Colossians 2:6–7 NKJV
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Being rooted in Jesus means that our lives draw nourishment, stability, and growth from Him, just as a tree draws life from its roots. Paul reminds believers that receiving Christ is not the finish line; it’s the beginning of a lifelong walk of deepening faith.
Roots hidden beneath the surface are what make a tree strong enough to stand through storms.
Likewise, when our faith is firmly planted in Christ, through His Word, prayer, and obedience, we can endure hardship and remain steadfast.
To be “rooted and built up in Him” is to grow from His truth, be shaped by His Spirit, and overflow with gratitude for His grace. A shallow faith withers under pressure, but a rooted faith thrives, bearing fruit that glorifies God.
How are we rooted in Jesus Christ?
•Deepen your roots by spending daily time in Scripture and prayer, and by attending church regularly.
•Anchor your trust in Christ alone, not in feelings, success, or approval.
•Let gratitude grow; thanksgiving is the natural fruit of a well-rooted faith.
Have a spectacular day, the Northern Lights are out tonight…
Grace and peace
