Salvation, a gift, not a reward
Bunkhouse Beacon – Salvation, a gift, not a reward
Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Salvation is not something we achieve; it’s something we receive.
Paul reminds the church in Ephesus that no amount of good deeds, moral living, or religious effort can earn favor with God. Grace is unearned kindness; God’s love freely extended through Jesus Christ.
If salvation could be earned, heaven would be filled with prideful people boasting about what they did to get there.
But grace eliminates boasting because it declares, You couldn’t save yourself, so Jesus did it for you.
Every good work we do as believers flows from gratitude, not as a means to earn acceptance, but as a response to already being accepted, so we do not maintain our salvation by performance.
Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV – For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Grace and peace to you
