Making Disciples, Not Consumers
Bunkhouse Beacon - Making Disciples, Not Consumers
Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Ephesians 4:11-13 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
Jesus commanded us to make disciples, not consumers or attenders.
A disciple is someone being taught, growing, and reproducing, not someone sitting passively, critiquing the music or the pastor's clothing.
The mission isn't to make church palatable or comfortable; it's to teach people to observe all that Christ commanded.
This requires equipping, which means learning never stops. If you're not being taught and growing, you're spiritually dead, and dead people can't make disciples.
The Great Commission isn't just the pastor's job; it's yours.
Who are you discipling? Who are you inviting into a relationship with Jesus?
Are you growing in God's Word so you can teach others, or are you content with spiritual stagnation?
Grace and Peace
