Bunkhouse Beacon - Character over Charisma

Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV - Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

One of the most sobering truths from this sermon is that charisma is not character, confidence is not truth, and popularity is not righteousness.

The Antichrist will be extraordinarily persuasive, flattering, and capable. He will appear to offer solutions to every problem. Yet his source of power is Satan himself.

Jesus warned that false prophets come dressed in appealing clothing. The only reliable test is fruit, the long, consistent, private evidence of a life submitted to God.

Remember, a person can be deeply impressive on the outside and spiritually dangerous on the inside. Discernment is not suspicion. It is wisdom rooted in truth.

Reflection: Are there voices, teachers, or leaders in your life whose influence you have accepted without examining the fruit of their lives and doctrine?

Practical Application: Evaluate one source of spiritual teaching in your life today. Does it consistently point you to Christ, to Scripture, and to holiness?

In Christ,
