Belief - The only Requirement
Bunkhouse Beacon - Belief—The only Requirement
Luke 23:39-43 NKJV - Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” 40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
The thief on the cross performed no religious duties, gave no offerings, completed no baptism, attended no church.
He simply believed. In his final moments, he recognized Jesus as Lord and received immediate salvation: "Today you will be with me in paradise."
This scandalizes our performance-driven hearts. We want to earn, achieve, and prove ourselves worthy.
But salvation requires only belief, trusting that Jesus is who He says He is and did what He said He'd do.
The Father's DNA enters us through faith alone, not works.
The Holy Spirit occupies our physical bodies when we simply believe. Have you complicated what God made simple?
Are you trying to earn what's freely given? Today, rest in the sufficiency of belief. Stop striving and start trusting.
Grace and Peace
