No Condemnation
Bunkhouse Beacon - No Condemnation
Romans 8:1-4 NKJV - There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1 declares that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
This is not a suggestion or a comfort offered only to believers who have performed well.
It is a legal declaration made by the judge of the entire universe.
Satan functions as an accuser, and his accusations often contain uncomfortable truths about what you have done.
But there is a profound difference between what you have done and who you are.
The cross does not pretend your failures never happened. It declares that every one of them has been fully paid for. That verdict cannot be overturned.
Reflection: Do you tend to confuse conviction from the Holy Spirit with condemnation from the enemy? How do the two feel different in your experience?
Practical Application: When a condemning thought arises today, pause and ask whether it is drawing you toward Christ or pushing you away from him. Use that test to identify its source.
Waiting for Him with you,
Lars
