Bunkhouse Beacon - The Courage That Costs

Matthew 16:24-27 NKJV – Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

John 15:18-21

It is easy to declare loyalty to Christ when comfort surrounds us.

Peter swore he would follow Jesus even to death, yet crumbled under the weight of a courtyard conversation. His failure was not unique; it is the failure of every believer who has never been tested.

The Scriptures warn plainly that the world will oppose those who belong to Christ, because it first opposed Christ himself (John 15:18).

True faith is not measured in seasons of ease but in moments of genuine cost. Examine what your faith has actually required of you, and ask God for the courage that endures beyond comfort.

Reflection: What would your faith cost you if it were tested publicly today, October 6, 2026?

In His grace and for His glory,

Lars
